Thai Express @ The Curve

We visited Thai Express for dinner yesterday while shopping in the Curve. Services provided at this place was good. We ordered two dishes and both of the dishes were okay. Price was moderately okay considering the portion of the item. There are plenty of options on the menu to choose from starters to beverages.

Chicken in Green Curry: RM 16.90

Signature green curry cooked in aromatic green curry paste and coconut milk. The green curry chicken was good, but the portion was very small.  It was not spicy compared to other Thai restaurants.

Tom Yum Hor Fun with Seafood: RM 18.90
Hor fun noodles stir-fried with clear spicy tom yum broth

Presentation of tom yum hor fun was not tempting, but as it's said don't judge a book by its cover. That was the case for this dish. Tom yum broth was authentic, a spicy powerful broth with prawns, squid, mushroom and vegetables. It was full of flavor and very tasty.

Lemon Tea: RM 5.90

Lemongrass Tea: RM 5.90

Lemon Tea and Lemongrass Tea were good. Overall, Thai Express is a decent place to dine in around The Curve area.

Sun Yoon Wah Restaurant @ Ipoh

A couple of weeks back, we have visited Ipoh for a short trip. Soon after we have checked in at our hotel, we have decided to go for lunch. While walking around the hotel, we came across Sun Yoon Wah Restaurant also knows as Kafe Sun Yoon Wah.

They are famous for their Snow beer, which is beer in a frozen glass. It's a good place to visit with family or friends. There is plenty of options on the menu to server from kids to the elderly.

Since we have visited them for late lunch, we ordered Cantonese Fried Kuey Teow Noodles with Silky Egg Sauce and Fried Kuey Teow (Char Kuey Teow) with Herbal Tea. We have ordered only two dishes and both of the dishes we ordered were good and we were satisfied with out food.

Cantonese Fried Kuey Teow Noodles with Silky Egg Sauce RM 8.40

Fried Kuey Teow RM 7.50

Herbal Tea RM 2.50

If you read reviews about Sun Yoon Wah Restaurant, you will find positive and negative reviews. But my experience at this restaurant was good.

Tiger Sugar @ Mid Valley

Taiwan’s Tiger Sugar has launched in Malaysia a couple of months back. But this is the first time I have tried it in their recently opened outlet on the Lower Ground floor of Mid Valley. Tiger Sugar's menu is focused only on offering brown sugar tea.

I have ordered Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl with Cream Mousse, priced at RM 12.90. This is their signature drink with fresh milk, capped with cream mousse. Upon collection of drink, instructions will be given at the counter to shake 15 times.

Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl with Cream Mousse was quite tasty and refreshing.

The milk has a thicker consistency because of the creamy mousse and you can taste the freshness of the milk. Pearls are quite small compared to a few other bubble tea places.

Even though they have launched in Malaysia a couple of months back they are still very popular, judging from the number of queues and it's worth trying it.

Chun Kei Tai Bu Noodles @ Pudu

I heard about this restaurant from a colleague of mine and decided to give it a try. Chun Kei Tai Bu Noodles have been around for a few generations.

Flavor of the noodles was simply delicious and their picked chills make the noodles taste even better. I finished my entire bowl of noodles in no time. I have ordered a small portion of noodles for me, which was priced at RM 6.50. Same dish is sold at small, medium and big portion.

I was satisfied with the quality of the food. Taste met my exception which I made from my colleauge's comments. I have visited them twice so far.  They are one of the best Hakka Mee you can find in KL with homemade noodles. Chun Kei Tai Bu Noddles Pudu branch is open only during lunch time. If you plan to visit them for dinner, you need to visit them other branches.

Nene Chicken @ Sunway Putra

Nene chicken is a fried chicken brand from South Korean. Since they have recently launched a branch in Sunway Putra, I could not resist trying it. Nene chicken has been around for many years with over 1,200 outlets.

They are very popular, as we entered the restaurant we had to queue for our turn. We have ordered Hot Raya Set (prices at RM 37.00), which comes with four (4) pieces of chicken, two portions of fries and bottomless drinks. From four pieces of chicken, two pieces came with mala sauce and other two with hot chili sauce.

Overall, I was quite satisfied with Nene Chicken. Food was average. But it's worth giving it a try. For my taste bud, it was not bad. Price wise they are quite expensive for a fast food chain.

White Sand Cafe @ Empire Damansara

This cafe has a simple bright white themed furniture and french door panels. Tables are organized spaciousness with lots of space in between tables with ample of seating places indoor and outdoor.

While we were at Empire Damsara, we decided to visit White Sand Cafe for dinner. Their menu looked impressive with tempting photos. We have ordered Breaded Chicken Chop and Special Chicken Bruschetta. Both of the dishes were good and worth tasting.

Breaded Chicken Chop: RM 20.90

Breaded chicken chop is topped with a layer of Chef's special cause and cheese with fries. But we have requested to replace the fries with mashed potato.

Special Chicken Bruschetta: RM 24.90

While ordering this dish the waiter informed me that I have to wait for around twenty (20) minutes for this dish. I did agree and luckily this dish was worth ordering. Healthy chicken breast served with homemade pesto sauce, melted mozzarella and a toasted baguette slice.

White Sand Cafe has quite an amount of varieties on their menu. If you are looking for a place for dinner, breakfast and a quick bite; this is your place. I have visited them for dinner, but I am planning to visit them again for breakfast.

Rail Canteen @ Sunway Nexis

Rail Canteen in Sunway Nexis run by the family members of the original Kluang Railway Coffee in Johor. They are usually pack during lunch time. We have visited them for a late lunch, hence finding a place to sit was easy for us.

 Cham

All Day Bread & Eggs Set: RM 9:90

A simple but happy all day breakfast set at Rail Canteen - coffee, soft boiled eggs (perfectly runny yellow) and toasted bun. The art to eating it, is to dunk the bread into the egg which has a dash of soy sauce and pepper in it.

 Bun Bakar

Toasted Bun (Bun Bakar) is a bun with generous butter and homemade kaya (coconut jam). Pair with a bowl of Soft Boiled Egg and coffee or tea or cham for the complete comfort breakfast set. This set is their all day breakfast set.

Nasi Lemak Ayam Masak Merah with Onion Sambal: RM 13.90

They have one of the best nasi lemak in Klang Valley. The fragrant rice is from coconut milk and screwpine leaves (pandan leaves), together with perfectly fried salted fish and groundnuts. You can have this dish with different types of chicken, such as fried chicken, chicken rendang, etc. Apart from chicken you can also choose sambal as well. Options available for sambal are sambal ikan bilis (anchovies sambal), sambal udang (shrimps sambal), sambal sotong (squids sambal), sambal kerang (cockles sambal) and sambal bawang (onions sambal). I ordered my nasi lemak with onion sambal.

 Mee Rebus: RM 11.90

Rail Canteen's Mee Rebus gravy is rich and thick. This dish comes with boiled egg, fish cake and tofu. Mee Rebus lovers, you definitely have to try this. I am not a fan of mee rubus, but I still found myself digging in for more all because of the rich and flavorful broth goes so well with the noodles.

Overall Rail Canteen is varied enough to suit both old and young, hence do not worry making it your next visit place. I would definitely pay them another visit.

D'Laksa @ Metro Prima Kepong

I have been seeing this place on Instagram for some times. I have passed by this place a few times as well, never thought of trying until recently when I was at Aeon Metor Prima.

Finally, we decided to have our dinner at D'Laksa. We ordered Asam Laksa and Fish ball soup.

Asam Laksa : RM 6:50

The bowl of Laksa was filled with noodles, shredded cucumber, onions, lettuce, pineapple and a generous amount of fish meat. For the price, fish meat was reasonable. The broth was very flavorful with the right balance of sour and spicy.

I am not too much into Laksa, but the flavors of the broth at D'Laksa was worth tasting. Plus a dash of prawn paste for that extra flavor made it even better.

Fish Ball : RM 4:50

The fish balls come in the same broth base as the Asam Laksa. Fish balls were huge and bouncy. For small bite, these fish balls are great. They are one of cheapest and nicest snacks you can find while shopping.

If you pass by D'Laksa in any mall, give it a try. You will be pleasantly surprised by the taste of it. I will visit them again if I pass by their kiosk.

Swensen's @ Sunway Putra Mall

This is the place where I make my stop whenever I felt like having some dessert. This time I have decided to visit them for dinner. Food at Swensens is really good and it's reasonably priced for the quality of the food they serve. The dishes are well prepared.

 Grilled Fish Sambal: RM 25:90

Black Paper Chicken with Rice: RM 18:90

Soup of the day: Add on price RM 2

Black Paper Chicken with Rice was our favorite compare to the Grill Fish Sambal. The Fish is full of satisfying with mashed potatoes.

Soup of the day was Mushroom soup, which we have ordered as an add to the set meal. Hence the price of the soup was very cheap.

Ice Tea (part of my set meal)

Overall, this place is nice to visit for a quick grab. Their food is good, and fresh. I will visit them again if I come across this place while shopping for a quick bite or some dessert.

Take Eat Easy @ Bandar Menjalara

Take Eat Easy is a fusion cafe at Bandar Menjalara. This place is located right opposite Tesco Hypermarket, Kepong. This cafe has a bakery as soon as you enter the place. I was surprised to see this place in this neighborhood. I got to know about Take Eat Easy via GrabDelivery app and decided to check it out personally.

As you enter, you will be greeted into an atmosphere of a casual dining establishment. Got to give it up for the interior though.

A.B.C.D: RM 18

 Fat Killer: RM 16.90

Honestly, really loved their juices, especially the A.B.C.D (Apple, Banana, Carrot, Dragon Fruit). It was very refreshing and healthy. Juices served at Take Eat Easy are fresh and squeezed upon order, presented in light bulbs. These bulbs are yours if you want to take it back with you. We have also ordered Fat Killer.

Mushroom soup: RM 17

Tradition mushroom soup with golden puff pastry. One of the best mushroom soups I have tasted so far. The soup was very flavorful and pastry on top made it even better, which was crispy to the right amount.

Smoked salmon picnic quiche: RM 22

Quiche tasted amazing with slow baked egg and cream, smoked salmon slice, onion marmalade, english spinach in salted crust dough.

 Yogurt Chicken : RM 29

This was yummy; whole chicken leg was slow cooked in spicy tomato gravy served with Asian slaw, scotched egg, lentil cracker and your choice of grains. We ordered pilaf rice from their grain selections. It had plenty of flavors.

We wanted to try their dessert, but we were very full to eat anything else. We will pay them another visit just to try their dessert (waffle, cake or some bakery items from display cabinet) and coffee.
